[ She has amends to make. It probably wouldn't have been that big of a deal before she met Phil Coulson's team, but these things happen. Somewhere along the lines of dodging bullets and gathering intel, she started to like the ragtag bunch. They had charm and they had her back and that's the same even now, after being outed as a spy spying on spies. While she's sure they're hurt they don't exactly freeze her out. Probably having to watch her heal from her fuckton of injuries helped that along.
So she wants to make amends.
With Fitz and Simmons it's simple enough, some techy thing that she spends four days helping them with. It's Friday by the time she's done and her body aches from carting about equipment and being poked and prodded. She spars with May, she says hello to Coulson. It's fine.
So when it comes to Skye's turn for the Bobbi Apology Bonanza she's maybe already a little too hopeful. She wants it to be - well, not easy, never easy - but something gentle. Which means carrying two very full, very ample on the alcohol, glasses into the rec room. ] Hey Skye.
[ Holding one out, the cocktail umbrella sliding dangerously close to falling out as she does. ] I wasn't sure if you'd have preferred the violent peace offering or the alcoholic one? So here. You can punch me after, if you want? But I need the anasthetic.
[Skye figures it out when she finds Bobbi sparring with May, and one hour and a half later she sees her helping Fitz and Simmons. What she's doing - making amends. She thinks, maybe she's not as good at reading people as Bobbi is -- no experience to go back as long as hers -- but she is fairly certain she'll be last.
It's not as if they don't interract. It's also not as if Bobbi was responsible for the man Gonzalez sent after Skye with a gun. She knows, she knows this from Mack and from Hunter, that Bobbi backed her up until the end, directly or indirectly.
(And that she had to deal with Ward, and seeing the results of it; it's put some guilt on Skye's shoulders too. She should've definitely aimed for the head.)
So she expects it. She anticipates it so much that by the time it happens, Skye's already weighted the pros and the cons and decided that life now is too complicated and scary -- a whole team, a whole project of her own? -- to hold grudges where they shouldn't even be held. So she already knows, she's going to forgive Bobbi for that, if Bobbi forgives her for the attack back.
Of course, she doesn't expect the colourful booze.
She catches the umbrella before it falls, and sticks it back in the glass, taking it without hesitation.]
The alcoholic one, I'm definitely going to go with the alcoholic one. [She looks up, half a smile.] I'm not going to. I'd like to keep a clean track of not attacking my team.
[ She'd backed Skye because there was no reason to be more afraid of Skye than anyone else.
She had powers, yes, but to Bobbi it was the same as knowing how to shoot a gun. Any one of their team could go crazy and kill them all at any second. They were all dangerous. And she hadn't ever taken the attack to heart. Skye had been scared, hell, Bobbi's done worse herself when frightened. ]
It's strong. [ It's only a vague warning, they're all adults. But she seems happy enough to take the space beside Skye on the couch, pulling her legs beneath her and taking a sip of her own drink. ] Hunter thinks I can't mix drinks. He's probably right. But what's the point if it doesn't have a kick?
Hunter drinks designer beer. [She doesn't know about the secret runaway scotch, or she'd have a whole other view of him. But Skye's always been a hard liquor kind of girl, ever since the scotch incident. That memory only makes her smile a little now, because the last person she told about it was Cal.
She settles back into her seat, glancing down at Bobbi's legs for a moment.] I'm glad you're doing better.
He wants to be taken seriously as a person. [ Bobbi's words are sly like she has a lot of thoughts regarding Hunter and his pretentious beer habit. Still, when she catches Skye looking she can't help but take a bigger sip of her drink, something to distract her from the phantom twinges she can still feel. ]
SHIELD has a lot of resources. And I wasn't going to let someone like that put me down. [ 33 had been a pawn. She knows who the real master had been. And one day she might even help Skye kill him. It's a nice thought. ]
I mean, my tanning days are probably gone. [ Thankfully the scars are obscured by her jeans. ] But there are other holiday spots.
[It's sad, that she feels bad for Agent 33 - for having fallen prey to Ward's manipulative lies, for suffering for it. Nobody deserved that. But Bobbi hadn't deserved what had happened to her either, so she's glad - at least - that she's lived through it.
She lets herself smile a little.] We could always find a private spot for the two of us to tan. [Skye's got her own scars, after all. They're smaller now, but if Bobbi's read her file...
And who are they kidding, of course Bobbi's read her file.]
[ Bobbi's read everyone's files and then some. So her smile is still kind but not pitying. They all have their scars around here. ]
Maybe we could go the whole hog. Private beach. Pool bar. Cute server. [ She leans back a little, her free hand settling against the back of the couch so she can sit more face on with Skye. ] One with tiny, tiny shorts and a cocktail shaker.
And I'm so grateful. [She joins in, on the laughter, taking a longer sip from her drink when it dims down. This is nice -]
It's nice to see you do that. [And for it to be authentic.] I had a chat with Mack...[Who's now Team Skye, because taking back the whole hellicarrier had been one hell of an effort for both of them.] He told me that during...everything...you still had my back. As - as an Agent.
[ Bobbi's expression turns more sober, but there's still the slightest hint of a smile in her eyes. Skye was kinder than anyone deserved really. That she's happy for Bobbi to laugh after everything shows that. ]
You didn't want to harm anybody. [ She holds her gaze, makes sure that the other woman knows just how she'd felt about it. ] You were scared and they were making the situation worse by trying to hunt you down. I wish I could have just done more. Honestly, I feel like I didn't have your back enough.
[She was going to forgive Bobbi either way, really. She's forgiven Jemma, after all, and Mack; it all comes down to how people react to extenuating circumstances.
Just look at her. Look at her and how she'd turned against SHIELD because she'd believed her mother's lies, because she'd so wanted her mother to be good.]
[ It's a nice offer. One Bobbi hadn't even really considered before. Her future had been all up in the air during the surgery and yet leaving SHIELD hadn't crossed her mind. Hunter probably had other ideas but he always did. ]
Or with me. [The idea isn't so new, actually. CENTIPEDE might be her project on the side, Coulson-approved and all, but when it starts to pick up she'll need more agents with her.
And Bobbi, for all that she didn't trust Skye once, is still at the top of the list for people who Skye trusts a lot.]
[ It's hard to hold back the shock when Skye says that. And Bobbi's usually a much better spy, she should be able to. But her eyes widen a little and she has to cover up her hesitance to answer my taking a drink.
She never once thought Skye would trust her in that capacity. Not around other inhumans. ]
[It's something to build up to, although it'd be pretty much hypocresy from her side if she did that, right? What made Skye trustworthy around SHIELD after that one night she actually thought it had conspired to start a war against Inhumans?
Goals to work towards.]
Well, yeah, although right now my team's just me checking the internet for suspicious events. So boring. But I might need a pilot?
I can do that. [ For a moment she just sounds relieved, it has a pleasant tone to it, one that probably hasn't been in her voice in a while. ]
We'd have to bring Hunter though. You know how he gets when he thinks he's not invited to girl time. Mission or not do you really want to listen to him whining over the comms?
[She is relieved, actually, because that puts her at ease for not having to look for a pilot she can trust OR ask May for lessons in flying as well. It shows on her face, and the grin there. Even though she hides it by taking a sip.
And immediately regrets it, because that comment just makes her snort.] He's so needy.
Like a small child, right? [ Bobbi laughs and it's not malicious, not in the way it might have been when they were at loggerheads. Sometimes just bitching about Hunter comes out. ]
I had to tell him I had a private PT session today so he didn't join me on my apology tour. [ Another sip of her drink. ] If he finds me here you're going to have to pretend you suddenly have a degree in physical therapy.
bobbi (i expect her to exist rn) (hunter can watch)
